Nintendo GameCube is the first console made by this company to use mini DVD discs as media storage. The unit has a cub-alike design and comes in purple color. The main rivals of the console were Sony PlayStation 2, Xbox and Dreamcast made by Sega. It was released in the United States and Japan in 2001 and the following year in Europe and Australia. The console was designed completely to buy Nintendo and also referred to as DOL. Game Cube is a shorter term used to define Nintendo GameCube console for home usage.
